Top Secret Trick for Hard Boiled Eggs

May 8, 2017

I love eggs!  Love them all ways.  Hard Boiled Eggs are such a great breakfast or snack.  However I usually find myself full of swear words for a variety of reasons when it comes to hard boiled eggs.  Like when you think they are done and they come out runny and a little smelly.  Or when you are trying desperately to peel off all the shell and it's a frustrating all out effort that leaves you an emotional wreck before you even arrive at work.  I'm exaggerating but it is not fun.

So anyone who will listen has heard me talk about my love for my new Multi-cooker.  It's like a crockpot  from the heavens.  It sautés, browns, slow cooks, it's a pressure cooker, rice cooker, risotto maker and a yogurt maker all in one!  I have made amazing stews, pulled pork, and super fast boiled potatoes and more.  But the coolest thing I have found is that it makes the easiest peeling hard boiled eggs!  Something about the steam effect when pressure cooking them helps separate the shell from the egg and it's slides off effortlessly!

If you are interested this is the Multi-cooker I got and here is the Insta-pot (a bit more affordable and still awesome).

Oh and I heard from a friend that these eggs steamer contraptions do the same thing.  So if you are not in the market for another slow cooker maybe it would be worth it to try one of these.

How to pressure cook Hard Boiled eggs.

Place about 1-2 cups of water in the pressure cooker.

Place the eggs in a steamer basket into your pressure cooker on top of the water.

Close and lock the lid.

Make sure the valve is set to pressure.

Set on high pressure for 4 minutes.

Use the natural release method when the timer goes off.

Run the eggs under cold water for a few minutes to cool off.
